Scene Grab – The Perfect Patriot Chapter 11

ThePerfectPatriotCoverpng“And why are you here?” Ayers asked as he put one box of empty carbs back on the shelf and picked up another to read the nutrition info on the back.

“I’m only here to see you and then I’m off.”

“Well then, I guess I’m honored. You two don’t make many, if any, appearances nowadays.” Ayers said. “There is a wicked rumor around the agency and other parts that you were both dead. But that is just silly.”

“Silly?” Marta put her cereal box back on the shelf and grabbed another.

“Only people who don’t know you two, don’t know what you can do, would suppose you were dead. I never believed it for a second. Don’t know how or who could kill you.” Ayers had only been around Lance and Marta for a few days several years ago when they were tracking a terrorist cell. But he had seen first-hand how they just seem to move at a different level than the rest. He and his partner Scarfino also saw their lives pass before their eyes in a snowy Detroit alley when Preacher stood just feet in front of them ready to pounce if needed. Scary stuff.
